The Bendix races started from our airport 6 times during the 1930s.
Jack Northrop worked on his original flying wing concept at Burbank.
Jimmy Doolittle, Amelia Earhart, Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith, Wiley Post, Charles Lindbergh, Roscoe Turner and others came to Burbank to purchase Lockheed planes.
Adel, Bandi, Bendix, Hydro Air, Menasco, Pacific AirMotive, Weber Aircraft and hundreds more supplied parts for Lockheed and for the world.
Rocket Dyne, Aero Jet General, Librascope, Jet Propulsion Lab, Marquardt, etc. developed engines, instruments and other items that took us into space.
It is our honor and responsibility to preserve and present that history for our children and their children. We need a location to build on and there is no area better than the land originally used for the Lockheed Skunk Works.

»I would revise this goal to read "Burbank’s urban environment fosters *safe* pedestrian and bicycle travel..." since safety must be the first concern for unprotected pedestrians and minimally-protected bike riders. The concept of safety for those on foot or pedaled transportation has many significant implications. Some examples are:
* sidewalks that are wide enough to allow pedestrians to pass each other when walking without stepping into the street on onto a lawn
* designated bike routes that are safe enough to handle increased bike traffic along with car traffic (it may be safer to put bike routes on side streets instead of main thoroughfares)
* street trees that do not push up sidewalks
* bike path illumination
...etc. All of these safety measures will cost us money for capital improvement, but better to spend upfront than have someone injured due to poor street/sidewalk/bike path design and have Burbank deal with the resulting lawsuits too.
»Although this is a great idea, getting a museum together, funding, etc. is a long and costly process. Consider this, I have relocated the Martial Arts History Museum here, to Burbank on 2319 W. Magnolia Blvd., complete with movie props, Asian culture and cool displays, we are the first home to the millions of people throughout the world that take martial arts. Plus, the museum is an educational facility teaching visitors about art, history, music and yes, movies and how they all connect with the martial arts. Please visit us.
»There had been talk of an overpass over the highway around Grismer/San Fernando so kids would stop walking over the railway tracks. Making that happen would be great. This would also help the traffic at 5 points if it was
OK for cars, too.
